About WBS

WBS began the same way many meaningful South African stories do – around a table, with good company and a bottle of wine that carried more than just flavour.  It carried an idea.

Far from the sunny vineyards of Stellenbosch and the rugged coasts of the Cape, a group of South Africans found themselves in the Hague sharing a glass and reflecting on what they missed most about home.  Yes, the landscapes.  Yes, the people and most definitely the sun.  But also the unmistakable character of South African wine – bold yet elegant, rooted in a rich history, yet alive with innovation.

In this moment, it became clear: South African wines deserved more than just a passing glance on a European shelf.  It deserves to stand confidently on the world stage.

South Africa is a country built on resilience, diversity and creativity – and its wines, beers and spirits reflect that spirit. From historic vineyards producing exceptional Chenin Blanc and Pinotage, to winemakers pushing boundaries, to independent brewers and distillers crafting products with real identity – the quality speaks for itself.

What started as patriotic pride turned into purpose. Today, WBS is a proud wholesale importer and distributor of a carefully curated portfolio of South African wines, beers and spirits. We partner with hotels, restaurants, retailers and distributors who value authenticity, quality and story as much as we do.

We believe that great wine and spirits should not be reserved for industry insiders alone. That’s why we opened our doors to the public as well. So, if you find yourself in the Hague, you’re welcome to step into our physical store, explore our selection and experience a taste of South Africa for yourself.

WBS is more than a business. It is a bridge between continents.
A celebration of craftsmanship.
And a tribute to the country that inspired it all.

From South Africa to The Hague – and beyond.
