Boplaas Cape Ruby Port NV
Boplaas Cape Ruby Port NV is a rich and fruit-driven South African fortified wine crafted in the traditional Ruby Port style. Made from classic Portuguese grape varieties and matured in seasoned oak barrels, this approachable Cape Port combines vibrant dark fruit, smooth texture and warming spice.
Product Story
Crafted in Calitzdorp — South Africa’s renowned home of Cape Port wines — Boplaas Cape Ruby follows traditional Douro-inspired winemaking methods.
Select Tinta Barocca and Touriga Nacional grapes are hand harvested at full ripeness before fermentation in traditional open lagares with manual pigeage to maximise colour, flavour and tannin extraction. Fermentation is halted at the ideal moment through fortification with premium grape spirit, preserving natural sweetness and fruit purity.
The wine is matured for at least 12 months in large seasoned oak barrels before blending and light filtration to preserve freshness and character.
Tasting Notes
