Bergendal Old Vine Chenin Blanc 2025
Bergendal Old Vine Chenin Blanc 2025 is an elegant, expressive South African white wine from the high-altitude Piekenierskloof plateau. Made from 100% Chenin Blanc grown on old, ungrafted bush vines, this wine combines vibrant citrus fruit, refined oak texture and natural freshness with impressive ageing potential.
Product Story
The grapes for this Chenin Blanc were handpicked early in the morning to preserve their natural flavour and freshness. Whole bunches were gently pressed, using only the free-run juice for maximum purity.
Fermentation took place spontaneously in 500-litre French oak barrels, followed by six months of maturation. A quarter of the barrels were new French oak, with the remainder second and third fill, giving the wine texture and depth without overpowering its bright fruit character.

Origin: Piekenierskloof
The Piekenierskloof plateau lies around 160 km north of Cape Town and approximately 50 km from the Atlantic Ocean. At 600 to 750 metres above sea level, the old bush vines grow in sandy loam soils and benefit from cool evening air during the growing season.
The 2025 vintage is regarded as one of the strongest in recent years for Piekenierskloof, with excellent fruit purity, balance and site expression.
